National Security, Minister John Sandy, is confirming that the powers of search and seizure being given to police and soldiers during this time of limited state of emergency has been extended throughout the entire country.
However, this does not mean that the entire country would be put under curfew conditions.
Minister Sandy gave this clarification during a media conference at his ministry’s head office on Abercromby Street, Port of Spain this morning.
Minister Sandy is assuring that persons who live in areas that are not deemed to be hotspots can still move about within these areas between 9pm and 5am.
Meanwhile, also speaking at the media conference this morning, Acting Police Commissioner, Stephen Williams, highlighted that no major incidents of crime or violence were reported over the last 24 hours.
Commissioner Williams gave a breakdown of some of the results of exercises over the past day and the areas in which seizures were done.
Both Commissioner Williams and Minister Sandy are urging the public to cooperate with the protective services.
