Soca’s legacy is set for life, as one of the youngest of the Blackmans soars to higher heights with the launch of her very own band.
Nailah Blackman unveiled to all her fans the launch of her EP and band entitled SOKAH, which took place on Saturday evening at the San Fernando Hill in South, Trinidad. Blackman presented a star studded cast with reigning Soca Monarch Champ, Voice and other a-list acts such as Kees, Preedy, Marge Blackman, Patrice Roberts, Turner, Len “Boogsie” Sharpe and Erphaan Alves, just to name a few. Jamaica’s female dancehall sensation Shenseea, was also a part of the excitement.
Nailah who celebrated her 20th birthday under the stars gave party-goers a taste of what they can expect in her repertoire come 2018.
Meanwhile across the Caribbean Sea in Barbados, Internationally acclaimed singer, Rihanna continued to celebrate her country’s 51st Independence by attending the Hennessy Artistry 2017 event. Thousands of patrons attended Saturday’s spectacular event hosted at the Kensington Oval; which featured performances from American based singer Tory Lanez, Jamaica’s very own Movado, Sizzla and Beres Hammond and Barbados Soca stars Nikita, Fadda Fox and Lil Rick.
The Government of Barbados officially changed Westbury New Road to Rihanna Drive in honour of Rihanna’s work and dedication to her hometown and country.
