President of the National Trade Union Center, Michael Annisette, says the trade union movement is in favor of returning to Government’s proposed tripartite approach.
The call made by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley comes months after union leaders walked away from the National Tripartite Council established by Government to facilitate discussions among labor, the private sector and Government on national issues.
However, in a News Power Now interview, Mr. Annisette said if they are to talk, it has to be based on mutual respect.
Responding to calls by the Joint Trade Union Movement to boycott over 100 businesses, Mr. Annisette explained that this was triggered by what the so-called one percent had said.
A statement issued from the Office of the Prime Minister quoted Dr. Rowley as saying that the invectives voiced by the labor movement will do little to assist the country in dealing with the current harsh economic realities.
