New social movement promises that fundamental issues will be addressed

NEWS GRAPHIC 15Two of the country’s notable political activists have teamed up to form a social movement called Citizens Intervention.

Political Leader of the Movement for Social Justice, David Abdullah and Former Attorney General and founder of Democracy Watch Ramesh Maharaj launched Citizens Intervention yesterday at the Royal Hotel, San Fernando.

Citizens Intervention as described by Abdullah was formed to educate and talk to the general public about fundamental issues affecting the country,both socially and politically.

Meanwhile former Attorney General, Ramesh Maharaj said several matters would be addressed such as Email-gate, Prison-gate and Ganja-gate.

Citizens Intervention will launch its first public meeting with several key speakers, such as OWTU President, Ancel Roget, former Oropouche West MP Mikela Panday and Economist, Indera Sagewan-Ali.

Citizens Intervention will host its town hall meeting on Thursday 9th July, from 6pm at Plaisance Park in Pointe-a-Pierre.
