Newly -appointed Acting Superintendent-Tobago, William Nurse, is pleading with the members of the public to be involved in the holistic approach that is needed to address bullying at the nation’s schools.
Speaking at police media briefing held at the Scarborough Police Station Mr Nurse told reporters incidents of bullying and indiscipline must not be condoned.
He also noted that follow up action is important to treat with violence in schools.
Meanwhile, Education Minister, Anthony Garcia, speaking at a media briefing at the parliament building stated that zero tolerance towards indiscipline and violence in schools will be maintained.
He also made referred to the recent incident of extortion and assault at the Siparia West Secondary School which has been circulating on video via social media.
Minister Garcia added that there are support systems in place to help students who display deviant behaviour.
Chief Education Officer, Harrilal Seecharan, said weaknesses in the system have been found which might contributed to the incident and are being addressed.
