Tertiary Education and Skills Training Minister, Fazal Karim has given a time frame of two weeks for the re-opening of the Laventille Technology and Continuing Education Centre.
The institution was closed following the fatal shooting of 16 year old Karim Maxine as he left the institution on his first day of attending the center, last week.
Two suspects ages 22 and 24 have reportedly been held by police in connection with the killing on August 28th .
In a News Power Now interview on Tuesday afternoon, Minister Karim confirmed that the education of students who attend the center continues at other training facilities.
He explained students and staff are getting counseling after the tragic incident.
Minister Karim noted security at the centre will be intensified and there are no plans to shut down the establishment.
