Oil production at Petrotrin stalled as workers continue with a more than a week long industrial action

Late payments by contractors attached to Petrotrin is being blamed for the decision by workers at the company to down tools in protest against not being paid

Reports are that from last week Tuesday workers have been on strike leading to oil production at Petrotrin to be stalled

As such the representing union, the Oilfield Workers Trade Union, is accusing Petrotrin of failing to honour a number of clauses in a recent collective bargaining agreement in a timely fashion

We understand some 900 Petrotrin workers are now refusing to work

In an interview yesterday Petrotrin President Khalid Hassanali said the late payments by the contractors has led to this situation
