A 56- year- old taxi driver is warded at the San Fernando General Hospital, in stable but serious condition after being chopped about the body on Tues
Georgie Shah of Poui Rd, Morouga was reportedly plying his taxi around 9:20am when upon reaching Market Street, he stopped in traffic and was approached by a man who began attacking him with a cutlass. He was chopped about the body after attempting to escape his attacker by disembarking the vehicle.
Officers at the nearby Princes Town Police station were alerted by onlookers and the attacker was reportedly subdued and arrested.
It is alleged that the suspect is a close friend of the victim’s daughter.
Investigations are now underway.
