Members of the Opposition United National Congress (UNC) yesterday invoked the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) in their call for the government by way of the Prime Minister to make the contents of the Sir Anthony Coleman Report into CLICO available to the public.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning, opposition Senator Gerald Ramdeen is stating that the people of the country deserves to know the findings just as given the opportunity with the HCU report that was released almost immediately.
This action comes after Prime Minister Dr Rowley made a statement in the House of Representatives on July 1st, concerning matters of the report that should remain private.
Meanwhile in a separate interview, Minister in the Ministry of Legal Affairs Stuart Young is refuting claims made by the Opposition that in keeping the report private the government is attempting to protect members of the PNM who hold executive positions in CL Financial.
He says that this is simply a political move by the opposition as they are that this action is being taken in order to follow due process.
