The Opposition continues in its attempts to set the record straight today on information surrounding the walkout of the Parliament which occurred last Friday.

A statement issued by Opposition Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar indicated that contrary to an editorial in the Sunday Express newspapers, members on the opposing bench did not walkout during the debate on issues affecting citizens following the passage of Tropical Storm Bret.

Persad-Bissessar stated that the Hansard recording as well as the audiovisual will show that only after the debate on the matter was completed did the Opposition leave the Parliamentary chamber.

Member of Parliament for Oropouche East Roodal Moonilal reiterated that the Opposition fully in the debate.

He says that the Opposition will be present in the Parliament today as discussions on the Judge Alone Bill that seeks to remove the jury is carded to take place.

He says that the Bill is not to be taken lightly given the fundamental and almost  revolutionary change that the Government seeks to initiate.

He says the Opposition believes this will encroach on the rights of citizens access to justice, and raises serious concerns.
