Opposition leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar is asking Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley for a meeting to resolve the crisis facing the Sangre Grande Regional Corporation.
There is currently a 4/4 deadlock in the corporation following the local government elections.
In a media release today, Mrs Persad -Bissessar tells the Prime Minister that this is not the time for a lengthy legal battle or political struggle.
She says the deadlock should be resolved as soon as possible through mutual agreement of the parties.
Meanwhile, according to a reliable source Junia Regello has been selected as the new Mayor of San Fernando.
While newly elected Councillor Vydia Mungal Bisessar has been selected as deputy Mayor.
Regrello will be sworn in as an Alderman, he was an Alderman and the Deputy Mayor during the last council.
He was a former MP and also served as a Councillor.
The swearing in for the Council is tentatively carded for Monday.
The PNM won all nine seats and gained three Alderman, while the UNC gained one Alderman.
