Jamaican authorities say a taxi-driver remains in police custody today as investigators probe the disappearance and possible death of Michelle Coudray, the daughter of San Fernando Mayor Marlene Coudray…

Deputy Superintendent of the Jamaican Constabulary Communication Network, Steve Brown, has confirmed this, stating that of the other “persons of interest” that were being interviewed by police, only the taxi driver is detained.

However, Brown said the taxi-driver is not yet classified as a suspect…

The man has been in police custody since Monday….

According to reports, the man, who operated his taxi par time, became friends with Michelle after driving her around in recent months…

The 39 year old mother of three, has been missing since June 2.

She was last seen around 12.30 a.m. that day entering a taxi after leaving Cornwall College….

Meantime, the San Fernando Mayor who flew to Jamaica on Wednesday to assist in the police investigation says she is satisfied with the priority given to the case…

The case has been tagged as “high profile”, and several senior investigators in Jamaica were working on it…

Ms. Coudray, in a telephone interview said she has given a DNA sample to Jamaican authorities for testing.

She has also handed over to Jamaican authorities her daughter’s dental records for comparison to a burnt body found in a canefield at Barnett Estate, Cornwall, Montego Bay, on Sunday.

Mayor Coudray said an autopsy was not yet carried out on the remains of the body, but an examination was done.
