Head of the Police Complaints Authority, David West, says under the PCA statutory they have the authority to investigate any police officer who may have been found or accused of police mis-conduct.
Commenting on the alleged cover-up of the discovery of a quantity of marijuana at the private residence of Siparia MP, Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar in 2013 in Philippine, West said based on the evidence thus far there is a case built by which the matter can go to court.
The PCA Head was speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1fm this morning, also said the PCA’s probe focused solely on the conduct of police officers to determine if a criminal offence or serious police misconduct took place.
West in banter with host Richard Ragoobarsingh was asked whether or not he suspects his recommendation to have former head of Special Branch be charged to get political; he replied by saying the recommendation has nothing to do with the Office of the Prime Minister.
