Independent Senator David Small is suggesting that there be urgent review of the performance of state entities and appropriate action taken to correct weaknesses identified.
Speaking on the Business Corner Programme here on Power 102.1fm this afternoon, Mr Small said this move is necessary especially in light of the current economic situation.
Mr. Small said going forward their must be greater efficiency and viability at the over one hundred state agencies in which a few are enjoying positive operations.
He added that there have been signs of weak governance at some of the state agencies that contribute to inefficiency.
Meanwhile, economist and member of the government’s Economic Advisory Board, Dr Ronald Ramkissoon, said more focus must be placed on monitoring and ensuring the right persons are chosen the various positions.
Dr. Ramkissoon proposed that going forward the aim should be to ensure greater profitability within state enterprises.
