Around 12.30 a.m. Sunday, 28-year-old Kennedy Lopez was plying his Nissan B14 car for hire when he stopped for two male passengers at Prince Street.
Upon reaching Maturita Road, the men announced a hold-up and began beating Lopez before stabbing him in the chest.
Lopez managed to escape with his car key and ran to safety. He was taken to hospital by a passer-by.
Police say he remains in an unsatisfactory condition.
Lopez was robbed of quantity of cash and his $200 cellular phone.
