Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, is defending her government’s interest in long range vessels from China.
Speaking with reporters in Beijing this week, Mrs. Persad Bissessar explained that should her administration decide to purchase the long range vessels it will be economically viable when compared to the off shore patrol vessels which the government scrapped the contract for.
She explained experts in the field visited countries exploring the best option available to the country to help strengthen protection of the country’s borders.
The Prime Minister also dismissed claims that enough thought did not go into this serious issue.
