The Police Service has been solicited to investigate an alleged leak of confidential information from the Integrity Commission to unauthorized persons.
The Integrity Commission issued a release on Tuesday expressing “deep regret” over a Newsday article over an internal matter which the Commission stated was “sensationalized”.
The report stated there was a bitter row between newly appointed chairman Ken Gordon and Deputy Chairman Gladys Gafoor, over a matter before the Commission with respect to former attorney general John Jeremie, in relation to an issue regarding former chief justice Sat Sharma.
The Commission categorically denies that there is any ‘bitter row’ between members of the Commission, as reported in the article.
The release added that the Commission views seriously any allegations involving breaches of confidentiality or unlawful disclosure of information alluded to in the Newsday article.
However, even as he dismissed the reports of a bitter row, Mr. Gordon, during an interview on CNC 3 confirmed that there was an issue.
He said he regretted that it reached the media.
