Police are refusing to rule out foul play in the death of a 57- year- old Gasparillo man despite the discovery of what appears to be a suicide note at the scene.
The body of Farica Zalim of Johnson Street, Gasparillo was discovered this morning by relatives who went to take breakfast for him. His body was found on a couch and he had suffered several chop wounds with two fingers on one hand completely severed.
A sharp cutlass was also found at the scene.
Police reports state he attempted suicide many times and was known to have suffered from drug and alcohol abuse. A note was also found saying he was sorry for his past behavior.
Region Three Homicide together with Southern Division police are investigating.
