Police Service Public Information Officer says there has been a decrease in Domestic Abuse.

NEWS GRAPHIC 15Public Information Officer, Acting Assistant Superintendent Michael Pierre stated that all police officers are mandated by law, to adhere to any claim of domestic violence.

Speaking at the weekly police media briefing, ASP Pierre said a police officer will carry out thorough investigations of domestic violence in an effort to protect the victim.

ASP Pierre said officers are guided by the Domestic Violence Act of 1999 to carry out their duties in the best interest of all citizens.

Referring to statistics over the past year, ASP Pierre said there was a decrease in domestic violence incidents being reported as appose to previous years.

ASP Pierre said there was an 18% decrease in reports from 1,931 to 1,632 from the period 2014 to 2015.

The Public Information Officer to the police service is urging victims of domestic violence to come forward and file reports on any case of domestic abuse, whether emotional, physical or financial abuse.

    Of course ever since the PNM rules there must be a derease of domestic crime. Rape does not count as crime anymore.Consent is no crime therefore there is less crime.Also the Crimeminister will agree to this great statistic. By the way it is also possible to decrease the murder rate of T&T. Just find out that half of these cases were consent and T&T is a country which appears to be safe at least in the eyes of THA.
