President responds to letter sent by Works and Transport Minister

President Richards responds to the letter sent to him by Works and Transport Minister, Jack Warner, calling for the removal of Chairman of the Integrity Commission, Dr Eric St Cyr.

Minister Warner contends Mr. St Cyr’s personal view on the Prime Minister’s stay at the home of a friend last year has hurt the integrity of the Commission.

The Opposition People’s National Movement has written to the Registrar of the Commission calling for probe in the Prime Minister’s action.

In a statement this afternoon, President Richards said as a complaint in this regard Minister Warner’s letter provides a prima facie basis in fact to warrant the commencement of impeachment proceedings under the constitution.

Professor said the Commission will proceed to discharge its responsibilities according to the law and in accordance with the tenets of fairness and justice.
