Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley will meet with members of Jamaica’s private sector today, this as he continues his 5 day visit on the island.
Dr. Rowley’s visit comes amid a strained bilateral relationship between both countries. Speaking at Jamaica House yesterday morning, Dr. Rowley said investment from Trinidad and Tobago into Jamaica ought not to be seen as anything other than welcome.
He stressed that Trinidad and Tobago goes out of its way to attract foreign investment from Jamaica and from far afield.
Dr. Rowley said his government sees CARICOM as its market and added that his government wants Jamaica to see Trinidad and Tobago as its market, further explaining that Trinidad and Tobago wants Jamaica to realize its full potential. He said looking inward and attempting to chastise Trinidad and Tobago’s manufacturers in any way, serves no good for the interest of the wider population of both countries.
