Prime Minister, Kamla Persad Bissessar, says she is sorry to the nation for controversy over the appointment of a former official at the Security Intelligence Agency.
Speaking at a Town Meeting in Maraval Thursday night, Mrs. Persad Bissessar said she regretted the tension created with the appointment of the former official to a senior position at the SIA.
The appointment caused widespread criticism from several quarters and the official was eventually removed.
Mrs. Persad Bissessar said the appointment was done after getting advice from those around her and assured that there was no hidden agenda in the move.
The Prime Minister explained that when issues surrounding the qualifications of the former official was brought to the fore, action was immediately taken.
