Prime Minister refuses to mediate with hunger striker

KPBThe Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago has stated that she has no intention of intervening in the hunger strike with Dr. Wayne Kublalsingh.

Even though both the Prime Minister and the Health Minister Dr Fuad Khan challenged his actions, Mrs. Persad Bissessar has claimed that she has no intention of getting further involved in the state of Dr. Kublalsingh’s hunger strike.

She revealed that she had matters more pressing to deal with.

Reports suggest that she will not get involved with possible mediation between the Environmental Community group and the state, over the route of the highway.

Mrs Persad- Bissessar paid a visit to Dr. Kublalsingh at the St. Clair Nursing Home last week after he collapsed at Maracas beach.

She promised initial talks between the two sides.

Those talks however, ended in stale mates.

Counter advertisements by a group supporting the highway drew support from the PM, who stated that the group had a valid cause.

She did not comment on whether or not the Government was associated with them in any way.
