Prison Officers Association calls for fair and thorough investigation into last month’s prison break.

trini-policeAs the probe into last month’s prison break in Port of Spain continues, the Prison Officers Association is calling for all to be done to ensure it is fair and thorough.

On July 24th three inmates escaped from the Royal Jail on Frederick Street in the Capital City.

One escapee was shot and killed by the police; another was found dead in Laventille with multiple bullet wounds while the third surrendered to police.

A 27 year old police officer was killed during the incident.

POA President, Ceron Richards, maintains that this approach is necessary to get all the all the facts surrounding the incident.

Mr. Richards in a News Power Now interview warned that failure to achieve this could result in more problems in the future.

Speaking with reporters on the matter recently , Acting Police Commissioner, Steven Williams, confirmed that the team of investigators into the prison break has been increased.
