The murder of another Prison’s Officer this morning has reinvigorated the call for immediate and necessary action by government ; this according to President of the Prison Officers’ association, Ceron Richards.
At around 6 o’clock this morning, 32-year-old Fitzarnold Victor, a resident of Prizgar Lands, Laventille had been washing his car in his yard when loud explosions were heard. He was rushed to hospital however he succumbed to his injuries.
Richards told News Power Now that prison’s officers are paying the ultimate price for the indifference shown by the state in dealing with the issues that plague the institution.
The Prison Association Head lamented that a number of suggestions have been made and discussion held, however to date, nothing has been to appease the tension within the prison service.
Richards said this recent murder is a clear indication that the criminal elements are attacking the prison service.
