Politicians are being urged to demonstrate good conduct in the parliament.
The call comes from Opposition Senator, Kadijah Ameen who made the appeal while contributing to the Budget Debate in the Senate.
Ameen, the former Chairman of the Tunapuna \Piarco Regional Corporation said politicians must remember the great responsibility entrusted upon them by citizens and their behavior should be a professional one.
During her contribution, she also called on the government to bring back the Gender Affairs Ministry, and said that this would demonstrate a public commitment to women’s right and women’s equality by the Government.
She said further that the Minister of Finance’s budget statement had not mentioned the word “gender” even once and that the Budget is a slap in the face of decades of Caribbean feminism and that the Government had trivialized gender development in the Budget because Social Development and Family Services is not gender development.
