The Secretary General of the Sanataan Dharma Maha Sabha Sat Maharaj does not speak on behalf of all Hindus.
This is according to the Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries Senator Avinash Singh.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102.1fm this morning, Singh revealed that he was ashamed of the recent utterances of Sat Maharaj.
He maintained that he did not require anyone to speak on behalf of his religion and could not stay silent on the issue.
On the issue of child marriage he emphatically stated that he was not in agreement with a child entering a marital situation.
He said that he agreed with the law of the land that a child becomes an adult at age 18 and that such an important decision could only take place after that.
Singh stated that the Minister in the Ministry of the Attorney General Stuart Young signaled his intention to look at the issue.
He revealed that he had every intention of speaking out when the matter comes to the table for discussion.
