Couva Police are searching for two men who held up and robbed a man of over one hundred thousand dollars.
According to reports, about 11:50 am on Monday, 42-year-old Padarath Choon, an employee of Super Industrial Services Limited (SIS) was returning to his office after he collected the cash from two guest houses; Princes Guest House located in Princes Town and Premier Guest House located in San Fernando.
Choon said on reaching Macaulay Flyover, Claxton Bay, along the north bound lane of the highway he slowed down in traffic, and it was then that a man dressed in blue cap, blue long pants and a bullet proof vest with ” POLICE” written on the front walked onto the centre of the highway and motioned him to pull over to the shoulder.
Padarath said as he came out the vehicle, one of the men placed a pair of handcuffs on his hands. He was then ordered to lie face down on the ground when he was robbed of his cellphone and $200.00.
The men then grabbed the leather bag which contained over $ 100,000.00 and ran to a nearby gold coloured SUV and escaped.
Padarath was assisted by passers-by who took him to the Couva Police station.
