Caribbean soca star, Fay-Ann Lyons is proving once again that she doesn’t sleep on opportunities presented. The mother of one and wife of Soul Train Award Winner, Ian ‘Bunji Garlin’ Alvarez, on Tuesday night unveiled her mas section, Atlanta ahead of the upcoming Carnival 2018 season. The costume will be added to Fantasy Carnival’s presentation- Isle of Olympia.
In an interview with Power 102 Digital at the launch, which was hosted at the soca star’s Moka, Maraval home, Lyons- Alvarez said she was responsible for the costume’s overall design but made mention of the assistance received from her close circle of family and friends. The costume’s design was, according to Lyons-Alvarez, inspired by the US city of Atlanta, however the name mimics that of the Greek goddess, Atalanta- a character of Greek Mythology who is said to have grown up in the wilderness, and became a fierce hunter, who was always happy.
The new mas section, which is already garnering the support of many on social media platforms, will come complete with Monday Wear, which consists of a sexy, black monokini. The actual costume, which caters to both men and women, offers frontline and backline options. In attendance at Tuesday’s launch were a number of Lyons-Alvarez’s friends, among them cricketer Dwayne Bravo, footballer, Brent Sancho, entertainers Shal Marshal, Ravi B, Ms. Alysha and Jaiga among others.
