A special reserve police officer today appeared before a Siparia Magistrate Court charged with manslaughter in the death of another SRP PC Govindra Ramroop.
PC Ramroop died at the Point Fortin Area Hospital after sustaining a gunshot wound at the Guapo Police Station on November 5th, 2015.

PC Prakash Deosaran, who is attached to the South Western Division, was charged for the offence of manslaughter by Supt. (Ag.), Kenneth Galindo, at the Siparia Police Station today, yesterday.

He subsequently appeared before Senior Magistrate, Armina Deonarinesingh, on the charge and was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 with surety and ordered to surrender his passport.

The matter was adjourned to July 27th and transferred to the Point Fortin Magistrate’s Court.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions -South, Joan Honore-Paul, had given instruction to charge the officer with manslaughter on July 18th.
