The Caribbean comes full circle when it comes to Trinidad and Tobago’s Greatest Show on Earth. Power 102 DIGITAL recently had a chat with St. Lucia’s Teddyson John. He had visited T&T for a relief concert called, Caribbean Strong. He was extremely excited to be a part of the effort that would essentially extend assistance to families affected by recent hurricanes in the Caribbean. John has already released new music ahead of the Carnival 2018 season but assured us that he’s far from finished.
With the type of personality that makes him seem like a walking Tourism billboard, the artiste who has made a name for himself on the Carnival circuit in little over two years, has cemented himself as a part of the All Starz band- formerly known as the Roy Cape All Stars. John says that’s been like a dream come true. Like his fellow front-line vocalist, Ricardo Drue, John speaks highly of the camaraderie within the band and the shared desire to see everyone do well. “I have a new single out on the Haze Riddim, which also features Kees and Kerwin Dubois. That track’s called, “Gimme Dat,'” said John. He reminded us that he also released, “Mile High” earlier- a song that’s really positive and speaks volumes when it comes to John’s vocal ability. He has proven that he’s pretty much got the vocal side of things covered, though. In 2015 when he burst onto the scene with “Allez,” many could be heard questioning where he’d come from. His powerful execution of the song, coupled with his ability to perform, inclusive of his drumming on stage, was thrilling to audiences across the carnival circuit.
Teddyson’s winding down the year at home in St. Lucia, he says, but told us that he still has a few international gigs to wrap up before returning to Trinidad and Tobago for the full length of the C2K18 season. “I’m really looking forward to this season. I’m working on a track with Destra Garcia. That’ll be a big one. It’s been a pleasure working with so many of the artistes from Trinidad..
Stay tuned to Power102 DIGITAL as we bring you the scoop on some of your favorite artistes in the Carnival.
