Many children remained stranded this morning while others sought alternative arrangements to get to school as the Maxi Taxi School Transport Concessionaires of Trinidad and Tobago began a strike over the millions of dollars owed to them by Government.
President of the Association, Rodney Ramlogan, says the members of his organization will continue to strike until they receive all outstanding funds.
In response, Education Minister Anthony Garcia, speaking on the Power Breakfast show on Power 102.1FM this morning, said the school bus operators will be paid in two installments.
Mr. Ramlogan however describes this as unacceptable.
He also disputes the Education Minister’s claim that they are holding the nation’s children to ransom, saying that the children’s safety is also at stake.
