The Prime Minister spent close to two and a half hours listening to complaints before she departed to attend other scheduled meetings, leaving behind other government officials to continue consultations with the East Port of Spain residents on Wednesday.
During a brief media interview before leaving, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar said the major issues raised at the meeting were unemployment and housing.
She said she already has a team addressing the housing issues.
According to the Prime Minister, another team is being assembled to deal with the issue of unemployment.
She said that the crime issue was not a major topic at the meeting, but persons spoke more on the social issues that surrounded crime.
On the issue of the raids held in East POS where more than 90 residents were arrested, most of who were released without being charged, Mrs. Persad Bissessar said she will address that issue after she has been fully briefed.
