The Oilfield Workers Trade Union is demanding that the education minister say whether there is a plan
to send home workers of the University of Trinidad and Tobago.
This morning the OWTU delivered a letter to minister Anthony Garcia following word of the planned
retrenchment, scheduled for the end of the year.
Speaking with the media outside the ministry of education, President General of the OWTU, Ancel Roget
said if the reports are true then the ministry should brace for action.
Mr. Roget is making it clear that the workers are not at fault for, what he calls, corruption at UTT.
He said the minister said he is unaware of the claims and promised to look into the matter before
responding to the OWTU’s letter.
