A meeting of Parliament’s Joint Select Committee in April revealed that 39 state enterprises ‘strayed from performance guidelines’, and accumulated some 44 billion dollars in dept, with many ‘unable to pay’. For Committee Chairman, Independent Senator, David Small, and Economist, Dr. Ronald Ramkissoon, a member of Governmment’s Economic Development Advisory Board, it points to failures in governance, and meeting modern realities. They recommend a review of all related aspects, from legislation to board appointments, Manager accountability, more regular audits, and even establishing an Office of Inspector of State Entities.

Budding female entrepreneurs, Tiffany de Couteau, Nikital Legall, and Keishel Joseph-Lalite, tell of their experiences, so far, and the discipline necessary to succeed.

And, Dr. Christian Stone, of the education and research firm, Stone Brothers, explains the rationale behind the newly-created National Secondary Schools Entrepreneurship Competition (N’Sec),
that offers training to the next generation of business leaders.
