Prime Minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar, returned this morning from her 3-day trip to Jamaica, where she attended 50th independence anniversary celebration of that country…

During her time in Jamaica, Mrs. Persad-Bissessar was also officially inducted into a park in honour of UWI graduates who are or have been Heads of Government, at the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Campus.

A special plaque was unveiled yesterday, to commemorate the T&T Prime Minister in the park…

PM Persad-Bissessar, who was a former student and lecturer at the Mona Campus, said she was deeply honoured to be added to the esteemed list of Heads of Government at the university’s park.

At the induction ceremony, she expressed her gratitude for the honour, and praised the role of UWI in her journey to success…

Prime Minister, Persad-Bissessar, is the first female Prime Minister and the 16th Head of Government to be inducted into the park…

Meantime, the Prime Minister is expected to meet with her cabinet this afternoon to discuss among other things, rewards and recognition of the T&T athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games…
