The 2016 Summer Olympics officially known as the Games of the 16th Olympiad or more commonly Rio 2016 are currently underway.
With team Trinidad and Tobago set and ready for action in Rio, here at home Minister of Sport and Youth Affairs Daryl Smith talks funding and development in the sporting arena. He expressed his support for the team, as he consternates on important matters within his ministry.
Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning, Minister Smith stated that his ministry’s major concern is the development of sports at the grassroots level to afford person the opportunity to success in various sporting disciplines, as earlier as primary school, hinting at legislation for the option of Sporting Academies after SEA exams.
He spoke on issues regarding changes to policies within the ministry in an attempt to clean up the effects of mismanagement in previous years.
