This is according to the Minister of Education Anthony Garcia.
Garcia stated that when he reviewed the results of the top 200 students at this year’s SEA exams, boys accounted for thirty percent while girls made up 70 percent.
He described the development as troubling.
He disclosed that there has been a decision by the Ministry to employ what he describes as the state management model.
He said this would ensure that Principals and teachers received adequate training.
He said that reading and Math were two areas that needed immediate attention.
He also divulged that the Ministry would look at the National Test to identify deficient areas.
Garcia stated that what was needed was a complete approach that included the parents.
Garcia also addressed criticism of the SEA exam.
