On Wednesday, five Trinidad and Tobago nationals who have been incarcerated in Venezuela for the past two years, will reappear in court in Venezuela, this amid that country’s ongoing political and social crisis.
President of the Islamic Front, Umar Abdullah says his group along with family members of the detained locals, will peacefully demonstrate at the entrance to the Venezuelan Embassy in Port of Spain on Tuesday. He explained that the protest in Trinidad will simultaneously coincide with a protest by the group’s Venezuelan counterpart in front of T&T’s Embassy in Caracas asking for the release of four Venezuelan nationals unlawfully imprisoned here.
In an interview with News Power Now, Mr. Abdullah explained that the five nationals now face two new charges, including espionage.
The Islamic Front Leader said the group has written to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, however to date, there has been no return correspondence.
Mr. Abdullah is now calling on the government to take the matter seriously.
