The Trinidad and Tobago Chamber of Industry and Commerce has urged labour unions, the government, and all parties involved, not to circumvent, but rather follow the bargaining process to its full extent.
In a news release today the Chamber of Commerce urged union leaders and government representatives to seize the opportunity, and to utilize the true bargaining process, according to the law as set out in the Industrial Relations Act.
The chamber noted this process has been tried and tested in the past by the labour unions, and was deemed to be a less disruptive solution to wage negotiations.
The release also stated that the country has reached a critical juncture and as long as the present situation continues, the country will be affected negatively.
And can have serious impacts on the country’s economic stability, productivity and investment.
