Trinidad and Tobago swimmers needing to ratchet up their competitiveness in the 31st double-gender triple-age-group CARIFTA Swimming championships which enter the third of its four-day roll in Martinique today.
Two days of competition count Trinidad and Tobago with three gold medals, six silver and seven bronze for 7th place overall on the medal table which is topped by Guadeloupe with 12 golds, 14 silver and 8 bronze,
Bahmas (10-11-7), Barbados (8-7-11), Suriname (5-3-3), Bermuda (5-2-0), and Martinique (4-3-10) are ahead of Trinidad and Tobago.
The TT girls 4 by 100 metres 13 to 14 years freestyle relay team of Jada Chai, Deshor Edwards, Danielle Williams and Jada Chatoor earned TT’s first gold on Tuesday and last night’s round of finals scored Racine Ross as gold medallist in the 50 metre butterfly for girls 15 to 17 and Adrian Goin in the Boys age-group event.
Goin led a TT one-two in the 60-metre butterfly final as Jeron Thompson was second.
Goin and Thompson also featured with Justin Samlalsingh and Emil Goin in a bronze medal finish in the Boys 15 to 17 four by one relay final.
Malik Nelson earned silver in the Boys 11 to12 50-metre butterfly final as well.
