Trinidad and Tobago Red Force, first to qualify for the semifinal after an unbeaten five-match run, came unstuck in their sixth and last preliminary round game last game, losing to Barbados Pride by three wickets at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port-of-Spain.

The Red Force stayed top of the four-team group despite the loss and though Jamaica Scorpions beat the ICC Americas in a thrilling daytime match, Barbados Pride’s win gave them the first runners-up spot and the next place in the mid-week semifinal of the regional 50-overs championship.

Trinidad and Tobago ‘are the defending champions.

The other two semifinalists were also clarified last night at the close of the preliminary round contested in St Kitts – the Windward Islands Volcanoes who topped the Group B and the group’s first-runners-up Guyana Jaguars.

The Red Force will play the Guyana Jaguars in Wednesday’s first semifinal from 1.30 in the afternoon at the Queen’s Park Oval while the Windward Islands Volcanoes will face off against the Barbados Pride on Thursday at the same venue and also from 1.30.
