Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar commissioned T&T’s High Commission in Jamaica on Wednesday.

Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar yesterday commissioned this country’s diplomatic high commission building in Jamaica, as she arrived on the island ahead of bilateral talks with CARICOM member countries.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony yesterday, Mrs. Persad Bissessar said the event was a symbolic one as it appropriated punctuated the belief and mission to ensure that even as a long history of good relations is enjoyed, more is done to enhance the relationship between CARICOM nations.

Mrs. Persad Bissessar who studied and taught in Jamaica, said both T&T and Jamaica can be considered sentinels of the Caribbean region, highlighting that both countries are the most influential and populous nations in the Diaspora.

She admitted that recent immigration issues had in fact triggered some unease, however she vowed that more work would be put in to do better , for and by the people of Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago.

Informative article but what does “it appropriated punctuated the belief ….” mean?

I should also like to comment on your headline “T&T’s Prime Minister Vows To Work With Jamaica For the Benefit of Both Country’s People”.

“For the Benefit of Both Country’s People”?!

The phrase means “for the benefit of the people of both countries”. The word “both” does not qualify a singular noun. “Both” means more than one, in fact two. The word should be “Countries'”.

I mention this because there are very many grammatical errors in the use of English in our society. This deterioration is part of the overall deterioration in the quality of life.
