TTTI awaits government response to Sasha Mohammed controversy

The Trinidad and Tobago Transparency Institute is anxiously awaiting government’s response to the highly publicized Sasha Mohammed controversy.

Mohammed was issued a stern warning by police last Friday, after they uncovered, during a probe, that threatening e-mail sent to Trinidad Express editor-in-chief, Omatie Lyder and reporter Anna Ramdass, originated from the computer at her home.

Police had initiated an investigation after the two journalists reported that they were threatened in an e-mail on January 30th, sent to them by someone adopting the alias “Janice Thomas” in connection with the Reshmi Ramnarine story

In an interview with Newspower Authority this morning TTTI President, Richard Joseph, said the body condemned any tactic or attempts to muzzle the media

And he called for the law to be fully extended to deal with perpetrators

Mr. Joseph warned that if the matter was not dealt with immediately, it would send the wrong message
