A video that has gone viral on social media, showcasing the verbal abuse meted out by a female student to a teacher, at a secondary school in this country, is of grave concern to the Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association.
Association Vice President, Lindsay Doodhai, in an interview with News Power Now, this morning said, the video has led the association to believe that teachers are being targeted by students in a bid to have them recorded, if they react.
The TTUTA official told News Power Now that the teacher was called out of the staff room by the teacher, before being verbally assaulted.
He said while many have weighed in on the matter, some indicating that the removal of corporal punishment has led to this breakdown of discipline at schools, several other issues must be looked at, chief among them, the breakdown in parenting.
