Devanand Sinanan is the the new Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association President. He received over three thousand votes at the union’s election of national officers held on Thursday. Mr. Sinanan’s closest rival was Nicholas Cooper-Neaves who received over two thousand votes.
TTUTA’S Elections Commission Secretary, Edward Ramsumair, in a News Power Now interviewon Friday confirmed the results. The other candidates who contested the presidency are Amral Hosein and Cuthbert Joseph.
Mr. Ramsumair also indicated that Antonia De Freitas got teachers’ approval for the position of First Vice President with over four thousand votes while Claudette Governor got over two thousand votes. Four thousand, two hundred and eighty six votes went to Lynsley Doodhai who secured the Second Vice President position.
Martin Lum Kin got 4,299 votes to emerge the person chosen to be TTUTA’s Third Vice President.
The new General Secretary is Fitzroy Daniel who received 2,940 votes while Gewan Durga was selected Treasurer with 4,181 votes.
