Southern Division police have arrested two men, from Laventille and Arouca. The men were detained and charged after officers stopped their vehicle, during a random stop and search exercise around 10pm on Wednesday, along the Solomon Hochoy Highway.
According to reports, the driver of the vehicle was found to have had no driver’s permit in his possession. He reportedly complained of chest pains and was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital under police guard.
Upon searching the other man, police say they found nine mobile phones and upon tracing the devices, it was realized that the phones were all reported stolen during robberies.
The vehicle was impounded at the San Fernando police station and the men will not go before several ID parades before being handed over to Central Division police.
