UNC Chairman Points To Sedition Clause in the Anti Gang Bill Saying It Would Be Negative for Citizens.

UNC Chairman Points To Sedition Clause in the Anti Gang Bill Saying It Would Be Negative for Citizens.

The United National Congress is willing to work with the Government in the fight against crime.

That’s the statement being made by the Chairman of the Party Davis Lee.

He made the comments in light of criticism by the Prime Minister that the Opposition is playing politics with crime in T&T.

This is after the Opposition failed to support the Anti-Gang Legislation bought to Parliament by the Attorney general.

Lee says that one of that one of the sticking points in the Bill was the inclusion of the Sedition Act, which he claimed would negatively affect the lives of citizens.

He maintains that a sunset clause of 24 months supported by the Opposition is more than fair.

Speaking on CNC3 this morning he revealed that statistics show that when the legislation was not there, gang related murders decreased.
