The UNC Political Leader in conceding defeat told reporters the result means the party has to seriously reflect on how it goes about its business and make adjustments where needed.
Mrs. Persad Bissessar added that the focus of the UNC and its partners will now concentrate on the upcoming local government election.
In her concession speech at the UNC’s campaign office in Charlieville around 10 p.m. Mrs. Persad-Bissessar offered congratulations to Independent Liberal Party (ILP) interim leader Jack Warner, but, in the same breath the Prime Minister urged UNC soldiers to get ready for another battle.
“You win some and you lose some, I do not believe we have lost because we remain in the Government. This gives us an opportunity to spend some time to reflect, introspect… Do not be discouraged, do not lose heart, we are in Government and we remain strong and in tact, we still have 26 seats in the Parliament and maybe 27 depending on what happens, we have the majority in the Parliament,” said Persad-Bissessar.
She said this was just one of many battles and the war is yet to be won.
