One trade unionist is suggesting to the relevant authorities that attention be placed on addressing the social fall out of unemployment.
The issue was highlighted by Joseph Remy, President of the Communications Workers Union.
He made the proposal while speaking on the Business Corner Programme on Power 102.1fm this afternoon.
Several companies have cut jobs and some firms claim the situation could not be avoided due to the economic decline.
Mr Remy said many workers have lost their jobs and are finding it tough to get another one which could have serious implications in the future.
The CWU President also confirmed that he held talks with the new Chairman of the Tourism Development Company today and the outlook was not an encouraging one.
